1. Reach Out to Family and Friends

After earning your real estate license, your first step should be reaching out to family members and friends. Even a simple, “hey, I just got my real estate license, so please send business my way” message can generate leads.

While sending a mass email is certainly the most time-efficient way to notify your friends and family of your new business, personalized, hand-written notes are even better. Consider blocking off a morning, getting out your address book (or opening up the contacts on your phone, for you youngins), and making some personal connections.

2. Embrace Professional Networking

There are countless real estate networking groups throughout the nation. A simple online search for “real estate networking events near me” will likely give you dozens of options. As a new real estate agent, you might feel intimidated at the prospect of being in a room with seasoned professionals. But remember: they all started as new agents, too.

Attending these events doesn’t just allow you to learn from other agents. It also gives you a chance to make personal connections with real estate professionals in your area. Who knows? You just might impress someone who can help catapult your career!

3. Get Active on Social Media

Put yourself and your business on as many platforms as possible. Use tools like live video, hashtags, and local community pages to widen your reach.

4. Partner with the Chamber of Commerce

Consider joining your city’s chamber of commerce, which exists to support local small businesses. You will pay a small annual fee, but it’s worth the cost. Chamber of commerce events include networking opportunities, advertising, and connections with other local business owners.

Joining your local chamber of commerce will help you network with other businesses in your area while increasing your name recognition in the community.

5. Sponsor Local Events or Activities

The old adage “you have to spend money to make money” is definitely true for new real estate agents. Leads don’t come for free.

6. Reach Out to FSBOs

This marketing strategy is used by new and experienced Realtors alike. Many homeowners trying to sell homes themselves often end up frustrated, with their properties sitting on the market much longer than average.

Reaching out to these FSBO sellers can be a great way to generate business. Once they are fed up with selling on their own, they may be receptive to hiring an agent – you!

7. Pay for Leads

Paid lead generation tools can be effective, especially for new agents. You shouldn’t rely on them entirely, but they are a useful supplement to your business.
