ParticipantI’ve been fighting the good fight with Google for 2 months. Seems like they don’t want to index the xml sitemap for pages/posts or for listings. Wondering if anyone has had the same issue and can offer any tips, or suggestions. Have posted in the Google product forums but that’s touch and go.
Thanks
DanUsing the Yoast SEO plug in and hosted on Go Daddy.

KeymasterHi,
This is the url for your sitemap, so it exists; that’s good.
http://taosrealestate.com/sitemap_index.xml
Is that the url that you have added in Google Site Search (Webmasters)?I also see Google Analytics on this page, if that is one that you are concerned about.
http://taosrealestate.com/real-estate-listing/Next look in your WordPress admin: Settings > Reading. Is there a check mark next to the last item?
Search Engine Visibility > Discourage search engines from indexing this siteIf so, please uncheck it.

ParticipantChecked all that stuff. All good.
Of all the sitemaps generated by Yoast SEO all have been submitted there are two that are still pending,
http://taosrealestate.com/featured-listing-sitemap.xml
and
http://taosrealestate.com/page-sitemap.xmlThe other have been at least accepted but not indexed. I’m still waiting for a reply from Google Webmaster product forums. thanks for looking.

KeymasterYou don’t need to submit all the “sitemaps” listed from Yoast.
You only submit
http://taosrealestate.com/sitemap_index.xmlGoogle will understand that one sitemap url.

ParticipantYes I understand that and under normal circumstances I would do that and that’s what I did but wasn’t getting anything indexed. In the WP.org support forum others having similar issues were recommended by the Yoast support rep to submit them individually as a possible solution.
thanks,dan

KeymasterIt looks like you’ve narrowed the issue to the Yoast plugin, and not the Winning Agent theme then.
At this point I don’t know of anything we can recommend to help you. Please let us know if you find something that works for you.

Participantdidn’t ever think it was the theme but don’t think it’s the plug in either. Something else is going on, not sure what, though I don’t know why featured listings sitemap which is very important has not been accepted by Google. I will certainly update this thread if I get any useful information that others might find valuable.
Thank you

KeymasterPerhaps reviewing these steps will find something that was missed.

https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/183669?hl=enPerhaps you are trying to submit too many sitemaps; with the one I listed above, Google will eventually index the entire site; it takes time for an entire site to be indexed.
Let us know.
