ParticipantI’m trying to familiarize myself with the Winning Agent Pro theme by following the Official Setup Instructions, which, as you know, guides you through setting up listings, taxonomies, communities, etc.
BUT, how are all of these setup instructions impacted if I decide to add the IDX Broker Plugin? In other words, am I wasting my time configuring settings that are going to be negated by the IDX plugin?
Also, does the IDX Broker Plugin coexists with the AgentPress Listings plugin or does it replace it? Any help in understanding how all of this works together is much appreciated.

KeymasterIDX Broker will replace the Search Bar on the front page. You will still need to use the AgentPress Listings plugin to add the Listings to the front page. You are also able to add IDX information to your listings pages.
Most also use the Communities Custom Post Types. It allows you to add information specific for your communities, and then you can also add IDX info to those pages.
So you can set up everything except the Search Bar on the home page, if you will be using IDX Broker.

ParticipantHi Marcy, thanks for your post. I just got off the phone with IDX Broker. They said their system will add the Realtor’s listing to the home page. Apparently, this is now done with an IDX Broker widget.

KeymasterWell, yes, you create widgets in IDX Broker, and add them wherever you choose in your pages.
When we (or you) add the IDX Search Bar, we create a widget in IDX Broker, and add it to the theme widget area, and also include some custom styles in style.css.
You can create a widget for your listings in IDX Broker and add it instead of the AgentPress Listings on the home page, but you will also need to style it. To have the listings look like the Winning Agent Pro demo, you need to use the plugin, and add as a minimum the detail fields that are shown on the home page. As I mentioned in an earlier reply, you can use both the AgentPress Listings and the IDX Broker info for that property on the same page.

ParticipantMarcy, thanks again for your response.
Okay, I think I’m starting to understand this a little better. When you say (We) Are you referring to the Custom Search Box IDX Integration that you offer?
Also, if I purchase the IDX Broker Platinum service through Winning Agent will I still be working through them to setup my site or through you? And who do I establish the monthly account with?

KeymasterYes, we offer two services in the Store: http://my.winningagent.com/
If you purchase IDX Broker Platinum through us, we also include the Search Bar setup.
You still will go into your IDX Broker control panel to set up your searches and widgets just the same whether you purchase through them or through us.If you purchase IDX Broker through them, then we have a Search Bar set up package.
Once you purchase IDX Broker, there is paperwork to get approval from your MLS board, and once that’s complete and you IDX account is approved and set up, then we can set up your Search Bar.

ParticipantMarcy, I take it your company prefers IDX Broker over iHomeFinder. I’ve looked at both solutions and there are things I like about each. Clearly, you know a lot more about this stuff than I do, so may I ask why you tend to prefer IDX Broker?
Also, for a single Realtor, do you recommend IDX Broker Light or IDX Broker Platinum?

KeymasterAs a realtor, you need to choose the IDX service that’s right for you, one that you feel most comfortable with.
We have a reseller relationship with IDX Broker, and it’s a great service, but if you like something better, then use it. 🙂
We also like iHomeFinder and provide custom Search Bar setup services for it; you’ll see it mentioned on the page I linked to, as well. - September 21, 2015 at 5:00 pm #4629

ParticipantIDX is pushing something called Agent Evolution. At first, I thought this was just a theme provider, but it looks like they have their own framework, which they claim is better than Genesis because it’s specific to the real estate industry.
One of the reasons I selected Genesis as my preferred framework is because of it’s stability. Do you know anything about Equity or have any plans to develop a theme for the Equity framework?

KeymasterYou say IDX. Do you mean IDX Broker?
Agent Evolution was originally built on the Genesis framework, but then they developed their own framework. Since our theme uses Genesis, we’re partial to it. 🙂

ParticipantYes, IDX Broker.
Marcy, can you post a few links to some websites you’ve setup the IDX Broker search bars? Do you provide just a horizontal search bar or a vertical one as well. Are these in the form of widgets? Thanks.

KeymasterThe Winning Agent Pro theme has only a horizontal search bar on the home page, so that’s all we style.

KeymasterHi Raven, couple of things I could add…
First – here is a brief comparison of the two options you have with IDXBroker – click here.
Second, Agent Evolution used to be a separate company that got a lot of help from the folks at StudioPress. As they added themes and grew they produced their own Framework and left the Genesis community. They were recently acquired by IDXBroker so it does not surprise me that they would make comments like that to you.
We do not have plans to develop any themes for their framework. We are however in the process of building a new theme that will be for Genesis.
I personally prefer Genesis, but then I know many of the people that are part of it so I’m partial.
Best of success to you!
